| Historical Simulation Games: our definition: | |
"In an historical simulation game, participants take on roles based on real people or groups in history. They are then given a crisis or series of crises, and have to interact within that context, indulging in decision making, negotiating, communicating, leading and generally wheeling and dealing as circumstances dictate." |

Virtually any subject can be the source of inspiration for a successful history game - giving nearly limitless scope for designers. |
History is full of problems, crises and situations most of which have resonance today - history games give participants that opportunity to distance themselves from the present day, while at the same time exploring present-day issues from tham 'safe distance'. |
